Rock & Roll Hal of Fame and Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee Robbie Robertson has enthralled music lovers since The Bands Music From Big Pink changed all the rules for popular music in 1968. Through his career with The Band through his Grammy-nominated and acclaimed solo work, Robertson also excelled in the art of scoring motion pictures. It began with Martin Scorseses 1978 film The Last Waltz. Next was Carny (which Robertson produced and starred in with Gary Busey and Jodie Foster), to another Scorsese classic, Raging Bull, both in 1980. (His connection with Scorsese lasted over four decades more, with Robertson receiving a posthumous Oscar nomination for 2023s Killers Of The Flower Moon.)

Film Works: Insomnia explores those first three films: The Last Waltz, Carny, and Raging Bull. Released in conjunction with his memoir, Insomnia name which explores his decades long creative partnership with Martin Scorsese, Film Works: Insomnia features tracks from those three scores, including a previously unissued track from the film Carny.

Developed with Robbies estate, Film Works: Insomnia is a look into the genesis of Robertsons film work, and shows how his informed take on the musical element compliments the visual.
